My Little Rosebudds | The Introduction

Over the course of history, hair has been seen as personal decor and a way for someone to express themselves. From locs, to bowl-cuts, to up-do's, people all over the world have used hair as an ornament, even defining their moods by it. My Little Rosebudds recognizes the relationship between a person and their hair goes deeper than decor and whether good or against the grain, we strive to provide products and services that help people reach their personal goals.

Hair, skin and nails are all made of the same things forming differently on our bodies. Our "budds" vary depending on our genetic buildup, but one thing that we all have in common is that our hairs are made of Keratin. Keratin contains the elements oxygen, hydrogen, carbon, sulphur and nitrogen and is made up of small amino acids which are chemically bounded together by peptide bonds/links which form a long chain's known as polypeptides chains. 5 functions of Keratin is to protects epithelial cells, strengthens the skin, strengthens internal organs, controls the growth of epithelial cells, and maintains elasticity in the skin.

Recently there's been an outrage over the internet about parabens and other harmful products in cosmetics and which is proper considering keratin strengthens your internal organs. Parabens act like hormone estrogen in the body, they disrupt the normal function of hormone systems affecting male and female reproductive system functioning, reproductive development and fertility and birth outcomes. Parabens can also interfere with the production of hormones in our bodies although they last for about 24 hours. Even with this information, parabens are still "not a risk" according to the FDA but if we can only use up to 0.4% - 0.8% for just two product in a set, we've already surpassed the max amount for daily use of parabens in the body which could result in chronic levels of parabens in the body.

In our research we found that most well-known brands use synthetic products to replace natural ingredients because they cut the cost of natural preservatives and provide longer shelf life. There are so many other ingredients that have the same effect that they can choose to avoid using this product like grapefruit seed extract, neem oil and so many others.

Our hair is an extension of us, taking care of our hair, as we've learned, is equivalent to taking care of our health. Whether we cut it, color it, dye it, braid it or even burn it, we have to feed it, not just for a healthy look but also, a healthy body.
